About Zina
I first became interested in this damline after closely watching the racetrack exploits of greyhounds like Nobody's Fool, M'lady's Fool, Elite State and Fool's State. It sure is an intriguing mix of bloodlines. Breedshaping sires like Dusty Rapid and colonial outcross sire Acacia Ablaze are but a part of it. Then throw in a sire like Dagenham and the ingredients get a real kick along. There is much which can and will be written later about Dagenham's breeding but at this point I will mention only that his 2nd dam Miss Lemoss is bred on the same formula as famous dams Zimbabwe and Pitstock Park.
I got to know Reg Kay the trainer of Elite State and Fool's State quite well when he stayed at Rocky Ridge Farm whilst campaigning in Sydney with those two champions. When Spark She Mite (Zina) smashed her wrist whilst preparing to start her race career he asked if I was interested in purchasing her. I did so without hesitation. I believe this damline will continue to thrive particularly when outcrossed more. The fact that Zina is by Reggemite, a son of Barney's Alarm, made me even more interested. I chose Fortified Rush for her first breeding after seeing the early success of Vickerman Bale when he made the fastest ever race debut in 26.36 over the 472m at Bulli, Australia's premier speed circuit. Paul Wheeler put Rush over Sunray Bale, whose sire Lansley Bale and dam Jindara Bale are both offspring of Irish sires, and got Vickerman Bale.
